An indoor TV in an outdoor entertaining area is a short-term arrangement. Condensation gets into the panel, insects get into the vents, UV yellows the housing and the first serious storm usually ends it. The Porch Pro is built the other way around: a sealed IP56 metal chassis rated for rain, dust, humidity and salt air, with an operating range from −30°C to 50°C. It is designed to be mounted once and left there — not carried in and out, not covered up between weekends.
Brightness is the specification that decides whether an outdoor TV works, and it is the one most often overstated. At 1000 nits the Porch Pro is roughly three times a typical living-room television, which is the right amount of light for a covered alfresco area, a verandah, a poolside cabana, a shaded courtyard or any position that is bright but never in direct sun. Put it where the sun lands on the screen for part of the day and the picture will wash out — that is the job of the Cinema Pro, which runs at 3,500–5,000 nits. Tell us where the screen goes and which way it faces, and we will tell you honestly which of the two you need.
Google TV runs on the panel itself, so there is no media player to hide in a weatherproof box and no source device to fail. Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video and the Google Play catalogue are certified and installed, the supplied remote does infrared, Bluetooth and voice search, and casting works from both Android and iOS. Dual-band Wi-Fi (802.11ac, 5GHz) or a wired RJ45 connection handles the network, with DVB-T2/S2 tuners for free-to-air and three HDMI inputs — one with ARC — for a set-top box, console or soundbar.
Every size ships with a rear anti-theft lock and anti-theft nesting material, which is the difference between specifying this for a holiday park camp kitchen or a club terrace and not being able to. A fitted cover is included for extended shutdowns or cyclone season. Mounting is standard VESA — 400 × 200mm on the 43", 600 × 400mm on the 55", 65" and 75" — and the panel is only 87mm deep, so it sits close to the wall on a fixed bracket. Screws for both a fixed mount and a Sylvox full-motion cantilever mount are in the box; the mount itself is a separate item we supply and match to the position.
Screen size, mounting position, sun angle, power and data runs, audio and — for venues — cabling and control all need to line up before anything is ordered. Send us photos of the position and the audience distances and we will spec the size, confirm Porch Pro or Cinema Pro is the right line, and quote the mount, soundbar and install to suit.
Built for permanent outdoor duty
The Porch Pro is not a normal television in a tougher case. The differences are structural, and they are the reason it is still working in year five.
IP56 means dust-protected and rated against high-pressure water jets — driving rain, hose-down cleaning and coastal salt air included. The chassis is a corrosion-resistant metal body rather than the vented plastic of an indoor set, so there is no path for moisture or insects into the panel and no UV-yellowed housing after two summers.
The rear anti-theft lock and nesting hardware are the reason this line gets specified for camp kitchens, holiday park facilities, club terraces and council spaces. It is a small feature that decides whether a screen in a public position is a viable idea at all.
The smart platform runs on the television itself, so there is no media player to weatherproof and no source device to fail in the heat. Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video and the Play catalogue are certified, the remote does voice search over Bluetooth, and casting works from Android and iOS. Free-to-air comes in over the built-in DVB-T2 tuner.
Four sizes from 43" to 75" cover everything from a compact courtyard to a venue terrace. The panel is 87mm deep so it sits tight to the wall, the matte finish kills reflected glare that a glossy indoor screen throws straight back at the viewer, and the 178° viewing angle means the picture holds up for people seated well off to the side — which outdoors is most of them.
Yes — that is what it is built for. The IP56 rating covers dust ingress and high-pressure water jets, the chassis is a sealed corrosion-resistant metal body, and the operating range runs from −30°C to 50°C. It is designed to be mounted permanently rather than carried in and out. A fitted cover is included for extended shutdowns or storm season, but it is not needed for ordinary weather.
Brightness, and everything that follows from it. The Porch Pro runs at 1,000 nits and is built for shaded and partly-sunny positions — under eaves, on a verandah, in a covered alfresco area. The Cinema Pro runs at 3,500–5,000 nits with a Helio QLED panel, 120Hz and Dolby Vision, and is built for positions in direct sun. If the sun lands on the screen at any point in the day you want the Cinema Pro; if it never does, the Porch Pro is the better value by a wide margin.
Not well. At 1,000 nits it will be washed out with direct sunlight on the screen — no outdoor TV at this brightness handles that. It is excellent in bright ambient light where the screen itself stays shaded, which covers most alfresco areas, verandahs and covered terraces. Send us a photo of the position and the orientation and we'll tell you which line to use before you commit.
The screw sets for both a fixed mount and a Sylvox full-motion cantilever mount are in the box, but the mount itself is a separate item. We supply the matched Sylvox outdoor mount and specify fixed or full-motion based on the position, the wall construction and where the audience sits. Mounting is standard VESA, so an existing outdoor-rated bracket may also suit.
Every size ships with a rear anti-theft lock and anti-theft nesting material, which is why this line works for holiday parks, camp kitchens, club terraces and council facilities where an ordinary TV would not be specifiable. For higher-risk sites we can also quote a lockable enclosure or a cantilever mount with a keyed release.
The built-in 2 × 10W speakers are fine for a small alfresco area with people close to the screen. For anything larger — a terrace, a pool deck, a venue — add the Sylvox IP65 outdoor soundbar over HDMI ARC so one remote controls both, or step up to a matched pair of weatherproof CF-series speakers on amplification if you need to cover a real crowd.
